SC/MP ISP-8P/301N

The National Semiconductor SC/MP development system ISP-8p 301N was released in 1975 as a simple and cost effective microprocessor system designed to operate in multiprocessor configurations.

Designed to fill the gap between four-bit CPUs (4004, 4040) and eight-bit microprocessors, the SC/MP features a 12-bit address bus, interfacing directly to 4 K bytes of standard memory. Though it is not a personal computer, a large number of enthusiasts built hobby computers adapted from kits like this which were intended for industrial prototyping.

SC/MP II retrofit kit was also available to upgrade the SC/MP P-channel microprocessor with the SC/MP II N-channel CPU. The ISP-8A/600 CPU offered a higher speed of 2 MHz compared to 1 MHz for ISP-8A/500.
